Elsa Bulo was born during a time of violence and unrest in East Timor. Despite the violence, her father, a military man, did his best to create a secure and nurturing home. However, a tragedy befell her which changed her life forever.

Her beloved dog, her friends, and many others were being shot, raped, and killed. These events left her with a deep-seated fear of balloons - the sound of a balloon popping was enough to make her feel like she was going to die.

How To Do EFT Tapping For Phobias?

EFT Tapping for phobias is an alternative therapeutic method that has proven to be long-lasting and effective.

The sample procedure of EFT Tapping for phobia is as follows:

Step 1

Identify

Identify and explore more about the triggers of phobia, by asking the following questions:


  • What or who is it that makes you afraid?
  • What triggers the phobia?
  • What has to happen for you to feel better?

Step 2

Explore The Physical Sensations

Explore physical sensations that are associated with your current state of mind. You can explore by asking questions such as:


  • How are you feeling?
  • Where in the body do you experience these sensations?
  • What is the colour, texture, size, and shape of them?

Measure the level of these feelings by asking: "On a scale of 1 to 10, what number is the nervousness at, where 10 is really high and 1 is not high at all."

Step 3

Start Tapping 

Tap on the Karate Chop using the sample statement, for example:


“Even though I am afraid of balloons and I can feel it in my stomach, it’s at a number 8, blue in colour, and it makes my palms go cold, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” (Repeat 3 times)

Step 4

Then Tap On The Facial And Upper Body EFT Tapping Points

Then tap on the facial and upper body EFT Tapping points. Use the identified phrases to tap on the facial, upper body, and finger EFT Tapping points:


  • Eyebrow: I am afraid of...
  • Temple: I feel it in my …..
  • Under eye: It’s at a number …..
  • Under nose: It makes me feel …..
  • Chin: It’s in my ….. at a number …..
  • Collarbone: It makes me feel …..
  • Under the arm: So …..
  • Thumb: So …..
  • Index finger: Feared because …..
  • Middle finger: I feel it in my …..
  • Little finger: So …..

Step 5

Close The Sequence By Tapping On The Side Of Your Hand Again

Close the sequence by coming back to the EFT Karate Chop Tapping points and repeating the statement once:


Even though I am afraid of  balloons and I can feel it in my stomach, it’s at a number 8, blue in colour, and it makes my palms go cold, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” (Repeat 3 times)

Step 6

Breathe And Relax 

Take a gentle breath in and out, and have a sip of water. 

Step 7

Test Yourself

Test the intensity of your feelings. Ask yourself the following questions:


  • What number are my feelings at now?
  • What happened?
  • How does it make me feel now?

If you are feeling better and content at your current level you can stop and close with positive tapping. If you feel the number could come down a little more, begin again from the first step.

Note: You can also tap on memories, and associated emotions that come up. 

Step 8

Identify positive tapping sequences to close the EFT Tapping for Quick Relief:


You can close with the following sequence, 


  • “Even though I am afraid of balloons, that was then and this is now, I am open to the possibility of feeling relaxed now.”

Repeat as often as needed and you can stop when you feel relaxed.
