Online Group Yoga Guidelines

We are really looking forward to connecting with you during the online yoga classes. In cases

In case you are new to yoga, here are some guidelines:

  • Embrace Your Emotions: It's entirely normal for thoughts and emotions to surface once your session is booked. Embrace them as part of your healing journey and personal growth.
  • Stay Hydrated: On the day of your appointment, consider drinking more water than usual and continue to hydrate throughout the day. This can help flush out toxins and support your body's natural processes.
  • Avoid Stimulants: To enhance your ability to connect with your emotions, it's a good idea to avoid stimulants like caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol before your session. These substances can sometimes inhibit emotional awareness.
  • Prepare for Online Sessions: If your appointment is online, have some water and tissues within reach. This will ensure you have what you need during the session to stay comfortable.
  • Maintain Hygiene: Some techniques used during the session may involve touching energy points. To ensure hygiene and safety, please wash your hands with soap and water before the session.
  • Respect Your Body's Needs: After the session, some individuals may feel tired and in need of rest, while others may feel energised. Listen to your body and plan your schedule accordingly to allow for rest if needed.
  • Nourish Your Body: Following your session, consider consuming nourishing and healthy foods. This will support your body in its healing, regeneration, and renewal processes.

Here are some guidelines for yoga students to enhance their yoga practice and create a positive and respectful yoga environment:

  • Arrive on Time: Try to arrive at least a few minutes early to class to settle in and prepare for your practice. Punctuality helps maintain the flow of the class and shows respect for the instructor and fellow students.
  • Notify the Instructor: If you have any injuries, medical conditions, or physical limitations, inform the instructor before the class begins. This allows the instructor to offer appropriate modifications and ensure your safety.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink water before and after class to stay hydrated. However, try to avoid drinking water during the practice, as it can disrupt the flow and focus of your practice.
  • Dress Appropriately: Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows you to move freely. Avoid clothing that may be too tight or restrictive.
  • Respect the Space: Treat the yoga studio or practice area with respect.
  • Leave Your Shoes at the Door: In most yoga studios, shoes are not worn in the practice area. Leave your shoes outside or in designated areas to maintain cleanliness.
  • Be Mindful of Personal Hygiene: Ensure you are clean and have good personal hygiene before attending class. This consideration is essential in shared spaces.
  • Silence Your Devices: Turn off or silence your cell phone and other electronic devices before entering the practice space. The practice of yoga is a time for self-reflection and focus.
  • Practice Non-Judgment and Compassion: Yoga is a personal journey, and everyone's body is different. Avoid comparing yourself to others in the class. Practice self-compassion and non-judgment toward your own abilities and limitations.
  • Listen to Your Body: Pay close attention to how your body feels during the practice. If a pose or movement causes pain or discomfort beyond normal stretching sensations, modify or skip it. Yoga is about self-care and self-awareness.
  • Breathe: The breath is a fundamental aspect of yoga. Focus on your breath, and try to synchronize your movements with it. Deep, mindful breathing can enhance your practice and reduce stress.
  • Stay Present: Concentrate on the present moment during your practice. Let go of outside distractions and concerns. This is your time for self-care and introspection.
  • Express Gratitude: After the class, take a moment to thank the instructor for guiding your practice. Gratitude fosters a positive yoga community.

By following these guidelines, you can contribute to a harmonious and respectful yoga community while enhancing your own practice. Remember that yoga is a journey, and each day may bring different experiences. Be patient and kind to yourself as you progress on your yoga path.

The Dos:

  • Empty Bladder and Bowels: Prior to starting your asana practice, it's advisable to ensure that your bladder and bowels are empty for your comfort.
  • Practice on an Empty Stomach: To derive the most benefits, it's best to practice Yogasanas on an empty stomach. Aim to practice yoga three to four hours after consuming solid food and at least half an hour after having liquids.
  • Comfortable Attire: During your practice, wear light and comfortable clothing. Opt for loose-fitting attire that allows for free movement. Remove spectacles, wristwatches, and any jewelry that might hinder your practice.
  • Use Adequate Support: Make use of a folded thick bedsheet or a yoga mat to provide cushioning and support during your practice.
  • Use Adequate Support: Make use of a folded thick bedsheet or a yoga mat to provide cushioning and support during your practice.

The Don'ts:

  • Avoid Excessive Force: While performing asanas, refrain from using excessive force or pushing your body beyond its limits. Yoga is about harmony and balance, not force.
  • Practice When Energised: Avoid practicing asanas when you are exhausted or unwell. Listen to your body and choose to rest or engage in relaxation techniques and pranayama if needed.
  • Menstrual Cycle Consideration: Women can choose to abstain from yogasana practice during their menstrual cycle. Instead, consider practicing relaxation techniques and pranayama for comfort.
  • Post-Meal Wait: After a substantial meal, it's recommended to wait for 2 to 3 hours before engaging in yoga practice. This allows for proper digestion and comfort during your session.
  • Post-Session Rest: Following your yoga session, refrain from showering, drinking water, or eating immediately. It's advisable to wait for 20 to 30 minutes to allow your body to settle into a relaxed state.
  • Weather Awareness: Avoid practicing yoga in extreme weather conditions, whether too hot, too cold, or highly humid. Opt for a comfortable and suitable environment for your practice.

These guidelines are designed to promote a safe and enjoyable yoga experience. Remember that yoga is a personal journey, and it's important to listen to your body and practice with mindfulness and self-care.
