What Are Limiting Beliefs? How To Overcome Limiting Beliefs With EFT Tapping?
Overcome Limiting Beliefs With EFT Tapping
In this article, you will learn what limiting beliefs are, how to let go of your limitations and negative beliefs, heal the root cause, and overcome them with the help of the EFT Tapping Method.
How many times have you seen, heard, or found out through the TV, someone at work, or your friends and family that someone accomplished something great?
Maybe it was a friend who learned to skydive, a family member who became a movie star, an ex-colleague who is now a multi-millionaire or a neighbour who left home to chase his dream of travelling full-time.
And as you learned about their accomplishments, you said to yourself, "Wow! I want to do that too!"
Days pass, then weeks and months and most of the time we end up just getting back to the grind of our everyday lives forgetting what we even wanted to do back then and what really caught our hearts!
Sometimes you might even find yourself becoming resentful of other people's success or disappointed in yourself for not taking the leap of faith and following through with what you wanted to accomplish.
There are times in life when something unplanned and unexpected occurs. We make up stories to explain why and what happened. We begin to act as if our story is accurate. Because we believe they are protecting us.
The truth is that these stories are preventing you from accomplishing the great achievements you desire.
One of the reasons an achievement can seem like a distant dream is because of a self-limiting belief that is holding us back. These are negative thoughts, for example, "It's too hard." We put such thoughts in the bucket called limiting beliefs.
WHAT ARE LIMITING BELIEFS?
A limiting belief is an opinion we have about ourselves or our lives that prevents us from accomplishing our true goals.
It all starts with a limiting notion, which we repeat to ourselves over and over again until we totally embrace it and believe it to be true.
Limiting beliefs are not necessarily a product of our own experiences, sometimes they may just be someone else's viewpoint or even conditioning by our families and society, in general, that cause us to form these beliefs about ourselves.
- “I'm a scrooge when it comes to money”
- “I'll never be powerful enough to run a business”
- “Relationships aren't my strong suit”
- “No one cares about me”
- “Life is difficult”
- “I fail every time I try to make a change”
- “Work isn't supposed to be fun”
All of the above are examples of limiting beliefs. And here's what they have in common:
- They aren't correct (we just think they are)
- They started as a thought
- These thoughts become beliefs as we continued to affirm them
- We all have limiting ideas such as these that prevent us from achieving our goals (1)
Limiting beliefs can have a number of negative outcomes. They may prevent you from making good decisions, taking new chances, or realising your full potential.
Limiting beliefs can keep you caught up in a negative mindset and prevent you from enjoying the life you most desire.
''You begin to fly when you let go of self-limiting beliefs and allow your mind and aspirations to rise to greater heights.''
WHAT CAUSES LIMITING BELIEFS?
Now that you know what limiting beliefs are, you should know where they come from and how they affect your life's decisions. These limiting thoughts and beliefs can have several origins.
Some claim that individuals aren't wired to be open-minded since our biases lead us to seek out only good and agreeable information.
Aside from inherent biases and an incapacity to be open-minded, there are other factors that contribute to limiting views. You'll find a handful that may feel familiar below.
Education also has a significant impact on the formation of limiting beliefs. Whether you learn from your parents, school, or friends, they all have an influence on what you believe to be true.
This is due to the fact that they are both in positions of power and are constantly exchanging information, ideas, and views about how the world works.
When you learn from people you respect, people in positions of authority, you're more likely to believe what they say.
It is typical for people to draw conclusions after making decisions or having life experiences. If you fall in love and it ends in heartbreak, for example, you might assume that love is always painful.
Negative events, in particular, can have a significant impact on your limiting beliefs. It's critical to remember that the conclusions you reach following terrible situations are only relevant for a limited period of time (2). They are not absolute truths.
HOW TO OVERCOME LIMITING BELIEFS?
The good news is that you have the ability to change your limiting beliefs at any time. This does not imply that it will be a simple process, but dedication and a higher level of self-awareness can go a long way.
First, let’s accept the hard truth: it's extremely difficult to acknowledge your limiting beliefs. It's even more difficult to overcome them. But it is possible. Here are a few easy steps to get you started.
Recognise the limiting belief:
Identifying your limiting beliefs is the first step toward conquering them. If you're worried about having too many limiting beliefs, start with the biggest one and work your way down to the smallest one. Pause for a moment, and reflect on your limiting beliefs.
Recognise that it's just a belief:
Recognize that your belief could just be based on false information. It is most likely inaccurate and is merely a belief, not a fact.
Organize your environment:
Your surroundings, believe it or not, can influence your beliefs. A well-organized and open environment can help you think more positively and boost your mental health. When your surroundings are neat, you have more room to think and obtain clarity. Get rid of any clutter you may have acquired at home to improve your environment. You can even consider redesigning your area to enhance flow.
look for evidence:
Recognize that you have the ability to transform your lies into truths by seeking information to support your limiting beliefs. Try to assess the beliefs objectively and find evidence that may counter them.
Recognise the damaging consequences:
What are the repercussions of clinging to a limiting belief? Holding on to the assumption that you will never pass a test because you failed the first time can prevent you from successfully passing in the future and leading a better life.
Adopt a new belief:
Choose something new to believe in that will enable you to live a better life. It's possible that this shift will be difficult. Depending on how long you've clung to a thought and lived through situations that sowed the seeds of a limiting belief, it's possible that you've formed an extremely strong emotional tie with the notion. If you want to change, you must have the strength and guts to alter your mind and accept a new belief.
If you're having trouble changing your limiting ideas on your own, a therapist or counsellor may be able to help.
If your limiting beliefs are causing you to experience other symptoms such as anxiety or depression, you may need to seek professional help even more. Counsellors and therapists provide the resources and skills to assist you in overcoming obstacles and leading a more fulfilling life.
Another method that will help you to work through limiting beliefs is EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). EFT Tapping is clinically proven to help people let go of their limiting beliefs and to help them lead a better life with more positivity, by tapping on acupuncture points and saying out loud your truth also known as "truth statements" (3).

Overcome Limiting Beliefs With EFT Tapping
While these may seem insignificant, they have a very deep impact on the way you live your lives and the amount of success you see in our personal or even professional lives.
These beliefs determine the career path you choose, the amount of money in your bank accounts, and the state of your health and your relationships.
They can make the difference between achieving and not achieving what you want.
These beliefs determine your decisions, actions, and the quality of your lives.
What I found most shocking though, is how you can go through your whole life and not achieve what you wanted just because of a belief.
The most unfortunate part is that most people are not even aware of these limiting beliefs existing in their psyche. The same was true for me.
It was only when I attended the EFT Practitioner Training that I uncovered beliefs that had been limiting my finances, career ambitions, health, and well-being.
When the beliefs were unveiled through a very elegant process during the training (which was intense and liberating), it made so much sense and allowed me to see what had been stopping me from achieving my dreams.
Some of my limiting beliefs uncovered during EFT Training were:
- I'm not good enough.
- I don't deserve success.
- Money does not come to me easily.
- I really have to work hard to meet my daily needs.
- I'm not qualified enough to take that position at work.
- I'm not smart enough to get through that exam or interview.
- Nobody loves me.
- And one of the most harmful ones - I can't.
I not only got to know where these beliefs came from, how they were affecting me and how dangerous they were to my overall life, but also, the exact procedure on how I could eliminate them, thereby releasing myself from my stuck patterns.

SUCCESS STORIES REVERSING LIMITING BELIEFS WITH EFT TAPPING
1. Artist who was not getting paid for her art uncovers the reason why with EFT Tapping
Here is the account from the live in person EFT Practitioner Training "I want to share a story with you about a client of mine. Her name is Linda. She has a name. And this particular client, came to see me, because they had a particular issue and in my story that I'm going to share with you. I want you to notice 5 things. I want you to notice what was the constraint, or the presenting problem of the client came to see me for. Also known as the PP. What was the emotion the client felt? What was the false truth belief or the false truth? What were some of the reinforcing events? And what was the original event? So client Linda comes to see me."
She's like Rangana I have an issue with my name. I haven't got money in my bank account. And I'm a great artist. I paint beautiful paintings. And I display my art in these amazing art galleries. For all you know, really well known. I have people that have come from all walks of life. And they come and they see my art in the gallery. They come up to me and they go, Hey, how much, you know, can we pay you for your art? And they take out money, they write cheques and they give me money for my art. And I reject the money. I say, no no no, I don't want money for my art. And I'm not able to receive the money for my art. And now I have a real problem, because I have no money in my bank account which means I can't pay my bills right now. And so then I said to her, Okay, let me just test it.
So I opened my wallet. I take out £100, take it out Rs.10000 and I give it to her. And I said, here you go, you can have this money now. She's like, no, why are you taking out money? I don't want anything from you. You can have the money. Just give me your hand. I'm not giving her my hand, not taking the money. Why are you doing this? Just put the money in your hand. I just put it in her hand like that. She starts to shake uncontrollably. She starts to feel nervous inside her body. And I say to her, When have you felt nervous like that before? And she goes back to her memory of being 5 years old. When she's 5 years old, it's a Sunday. And on a Sunday, she's in the garden playing with dad. And they're having a wonderful Sunday together. Something she loved doing with her father. Take out the weeds and plant seeds and prune and cut. She's there on the ground, wonderful breezy afternoon with a little bit of sunshine coming and she is so happy spending this time with dad here.
And then she suddenly hears, ting ting ting, the ice-cream van. Dad dad, the ice-cream van, the ice-cream van. Can I get an ice cream? Of course you can get an ice cream. Here you go, get yourself an ice cream and get me one too. So off she skips outside the house to the ice-cream van. She's like Mr. Ice-cream van, Mr. Ice-cream van, can I have an ice-cream. I want a whippy with the chocolate in the middle. He makes this really nice softy ice cream and puts a big chocolate in the middle. She holds in her hand and it starts to fall down and she licks it away and there's this wonderful breeze. And then her friend comes up and says, Can I have an ice cream too? I really want an ice cream. Of course, you can. Mr Whippy, can you make an ice cream for my friend too?
He makes another softy with the chocolate in between, gives it to the friend and she's like licking ice cream and off she goes, skipping, hopping, so happy having her ice cream. She just goes back to the garden, she sits down, starts gardening away, then dad says, Where is my ice cream? And she's like, Oh, I forgot. And dad jokingly said, You can't be trusted with money. What was the reason my client came to see me? Yes correct exactly, no money in the bank account. What was the emotion? Nervousness. Correct, very good. What was the limiting belief? Yes, that she can't be trusted with money. What were some of the reinforcing events that reinforced what happened to her, that reinforced that she couldn't be trusted? Yes, a statement that her father made to her which was, you can't be trusted with money. Yes. The reinforcing events were refusing money for her art. Yeah, okay. The original event was with her dad. Okay, good. You got that, very good.
2. Business owner uncovers the reason why she is not getting larger order with EFT Tapping
Here is the account from the live in person EFT Practitioner Training, "So, I had a client who came to see me because they were not able to, they were getting a lot of small orders, they were not getting large orders. She wanted 3 large orders in her business, rather than having lots of small orders. And she had a fairly big house in the north of London. And so she wanted to sustain her lifestyle. Even though she was divorced, she wanted to make sure that she provided for her 2 kids at the same level. And what was happening with small orders was that she was spending an increased amount of time at work behind the order. She was like I'd love to just get 3 orders a day. So then I can spend more time with my kids.
And again she did this process, and for her, the root was, she was getting on a plane from Greece to London. And her mom said, Don't get too greedy. And that was the cap in place, with the orders. This just once affected so much. Yeah. Because the little girl, the first story, the little girl Linda, was having a peak emotional event. It was a sunny day, you're happy, it's great, everything is great. Any conditioning goes in very fast. And this moment, the grandma was saying bye to her, at the airplane and saying, you know what, Carol just don't be too greedy. And she remembers that belief and it just puts a cap on her performance in her life. I work with athletes, I work with celebrities, I work with singers in entertainment industries, this can be very common, you know. Suddenly the voice stops working as much as it used to before. That's just the belief that's in place. That's limiting the performance.
Limiting beliefs may also be described as tail-enders, which are subconscious objections to moving towards the desired state.
