Most of these situations arise from unwanted stress in your lives.

I have often heard of people having a total nervous breakdown because of stress and worries.

If someone’s nervous system breaks down, you can only imagine the intensity of the damage that unwanted stress can cause.

The important thing to remember is that no matter how worried we get, the situation will only go away, when we are able to think with an absolute clear mind.

While it may be difficult at first to use your skills in coping with stress, over time practice makes it easy and you are able to cope with more and more stress, allowing life to flow in ease.

To have a truly healthy life emotionally and physically it is really important to eliminate stress completely from our lives.

Life can be a very beautiful experience and every moment even the the one’s we don’t like can be easily dealt with if we just treat it like an experience and stop the overthinking.

These 10 tips have been researched and proven to lower stress and gain health considerably, even if you choose to use only one of them.

TIP #1 Daily walk

An early morning walk, not only gets the body moving but also allows you to empty your mind of thoughts. The movement gets the heart rate up and just like any exercise helps your body release endorphins, that constantly keep you happy and stress free. In some cases walking also helps reduce the risk of dementia.(1)

Sometimes when in stress, your hand may want to reach out to that chocolate bar or that salty fresh packet of potato chips. The smarter choice however is to reach out for a salad bowl or a hearty vegetable soup  or fresh fruit can actually help your body to release hormones that fight stress naturally.(2)

My mom always said, “Water is the elixir of life.” I never really understood this until recently when I was doing some intensive reading about the benefits of drinking water.

She always handed me a glass of water when I was stressed, angry or even upset and I would instantly feel calm.

Apparently keeping yourself hydrated can reduce the cortisol (stress hormones) levels, thereby eliminating stress.(3)

There is also a technique known as ‘Interrupt the pattern’, so for example if you are stressed at work and in a heated meeting just picking up a glass of water and drinking it will force the breathing pattern to change, thereby reducing your stress levels.

Having a hobby can create a happy feeling from within, thereby not allowing the stress to take over your life, eventually completely eliminating it.

I personally love gardening as working with soil is almost like a spa massage to my hands and since plants release oxygen, being around them always leaves me feeling refreshed.

You can meditate at anytime. It is a myth that you have to learn meditation.

A simple way to use meditation is, sit down comfortably. Take a deep breath in through your nose. Breathe out through your mouth. Only keep your focus on your breath. You can use this simple technique for as long as you are comfortable. Gently open your eyes.

Just 10 minutes a day can help you reduce anxiety, stress and even improve your cardiovascular activity(4)

We are breathing all the time. There is however a  difference between conscious breathing and unconscious breathing. Breathing deeply allows your heart rate to stabilize and also calms down your brain and emotions, reducing the cortisol levels in the body.(3)

TIP # 7 Yoga

Yoga is a proven technique that uses the combination of light exercising poses and breath work. Yoga is known to reduce the heart rate and relax the mind.

In addition, yoga also helps your body gain flexibility through it’s stretching exercises.

TIP # 8 Tapping with EFT

EFT is clinically proven to reduce stress, anxiety, depression, fears and phobias to help live a happy and stress free life.

Even professional athletes of the highest level use EFT to improve their performance at a game, and in their personal lives too! (5)

There were clinical studies conducted on war veterans with PTSD . Only after 6 sessions of EFT 90% were free from the symptoms of PTSD. (6)

EFT TappingTIP # 9 Let go of the past

Often we hold on to past bad memories, that result in unwanted stress. This can then lead to overthinking and in extreme cases depression . By being able to let go of past it allows the stress to come down. While the past cannot be changed, the emotion associated with the past memory can be changed using Breakthrough coaching with NLP.  The intensity of the pain in the  memory can definitely be reduced.

There was an amazing process I learnt at the Breakthrough Coaching with NLP Seminar that helped me reduce the pain and trauma in the memory.

Sometimes the issue or the problem may not be as big as we make it out to be.

It is important to review the problem as something that is only temporary and look at possible solutions from a different point of view.

Just imagine, If you were to advise someone about an issue or a problem, how would you do it? Would you look at the issue practically or stress yourself out? And what advise would give that person?

Especially when everything feels out of balance on the outside, the sense of overwhelm can just take over and leave no room for positivity or peace.  

heat-1924704_1920Negativity can arise from many situations. Sometimes a simple fight at home or work can be responsible for upsetting the entire balance of emotions.

This is exactly what happened to me.

When I worked in the corporate world, I had a boss who was never happy with whatever I did at work. This often led to me to be stressed out most of the times.

I even brought home my stress and had the worst fights ever with my family members.

What’s more this negativity translated to non- performance at work and even showed up on my appraisals.

scream-1819736_1920It was many years later that I attended Breakthrough Coaching with NLP, with Dr Rangana Rupavi Choudhuri (PhD), that I learnt how I was programmed to act and behave in times of stress.

I learnt about what triggered me and only then was I able to understand how to not let negativity affect me .

sword-1557814_1920Sometimes the outer world is a simple reflection of what goes on inside us.

While we feel that all negativity comes from outside or others, most often than not , you would find the issue within yourself.

After attending EFT In Mumbai, I was able to get to the root of the negativity inside of me and eliminate it from there.

Author and Coach Deepak Chopra says, “As is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm. As is the atom, so is the universe. As is the human mind, so is the cosmic mind.”

This all translates to only one thing. Negativity can be effectively removed if we eliminate it from deep within ourselves.

These are the same steps that help me every time I get an indication of a negative situation arising and afterwards I am left feeling positive, excited and yet calm and centered.

Once you know how they are so easy to do. So here are the steps below. 

TIP #1 – Shake off the negative energy

Animals are used to having a good shake off, leaving them feeling at peace and energised.

So shake off the negative energy by following these steps:

  1. Stand up and take a few deep breaths from your nose and exhale through your mouth
  2. Shake your feet one at a time.
  3. Now slowly starting shaking your legs, hips, shoulders and arms.
  4. Shake off all the negative energy from your body.
  5. When you’re done stand still and place your hand on your heart.
  6. Feel the energy of positivity pulsating as raised vibrations through out your body spreading inner peace.

TIP # 2 – Detach from the negativity

A negative attachment can arise at anytime as a result of a person or situation that triggers a feeling of being upset, angry, fearful, sad, hurt, guilty, disappointed or shut down.

Examples of negativity situations involve being scolded by a loved one, political agendas at work, hurtful communications, verbal abuse and toxic family arguments.

You can use a simple process known as detachment (2) to create distance between any person or situation and detach from the negativity or dis-empowering feelings leaving you feeling in control and more centered.

Begin by bringing into your awareness what issue or problem needs to be resolved.

Then make a prayer or intention to be free from the old problem or challenge.

  1. InfinitySymbolIn one of the circles imagine yourself.
  2. In the other circle visualize all your negativity or the issue
    that you have and want to detach from.
  3. Take a few deep breaths and visualise this for 2-3 minutes.
  4. When you are ready you may open your eyes.

TIP # 3 – Protection circle around you

The purpose of a protection circle is to allow only positivity in and to have all negative energy simply bounces off you. It creates safety and a sense of inner calm and control.

  1. Take a few deep breaths through your nose and exhaling through the mouth
  2. Visualise a bright white protective light all around yourself.
  3. This is your protective light and only positive energies can enter your protective circle and all negative energies simply bounce off.

TIP # 4 – Walk away from negativity

While this may seem like a really difficult task, sometimes it benefits us to simply walk away from a toxic situation and physically cut the ties to a negative person.

This can be a liberating experience where you are letting yourself know that your needs are important and that you are worth feeling empowered.

TIP # 5 – Inside out clearing 

Since the world around us are merely a reflection of what is happening inside, It really helps clearing the negativity from within.

Meditation is a very effective way to eliminate negativity from within.

In closing, while it is really important to eliminate negative energies from within, it is also important to build a protective circle and constantly reinforce it with meditation and other techniques to constantly have positivity and inner peace throughout.

3 DAILY ENERGY EXERCISES

To get started straight-away below you will find 3 daily energy exercises which you can practice right now.

They are easy to follow and will allow the energy in your meridians to flow freely, allow negativity to be released and leave you feeling refreshed and energised.

1. Tantrum tapping

This is one of my favorite tapping sequences, not just because it instantly revives my energy but because I feel like a child again.

eft-collar-boneAs the name suggests one of the main benefits to this is to calm down anger, tantrums or even an emotional overwhelm.

  • Begin by tapping the point just below your collar bone on your sore spot with your fists closed.
  • Tap your feet at the same time, just like you would while throwing a tantrum.

You could even shout out loud if you like.

2. Thymus Tapping

Thymus Tapping is very effective if you have a respiratory disorder like a cough or a cold as it boosts your immune system.

  • Thymus TappingBegin by locating your thymus, just in the center of your chest, again this spot will feel a little sore if you press it.
  • You can either use the tips of your fingers or roll your fists into a ball
  • Now tap on this point for a few minutes while breathing in through your nose and breathing out through your mouth.

3. The Cross Crawl (1)

Cross crawl harmonizes the left and right side of the body allowing energy to flow freely in both directions.

  • Begin by locating the tapping point just below your collar bone
  • If you have found a soft spot that feels raw/ slightly painful to the touch, you have found your first tapping point.
  • Tap on this point for 15- 20 seconds.
  • Lift your right arm and left leg at the same time. Continue this exaggerated marching for at least a minute swinging opposite arm and leg across the mid section of the body.
  • Breathe in deeply from your nose and breathe out through your mouth.

 

In closing, while there may be many reasons for energy disruptions, it is really important to eliminate energy disruption from the root of the issue with techniques like EFT. pills-1569173_1920There was a time when I used to run to the pharmacy every time I felt the beginning of a pain or an illness.

Yes I did suffer from the most painful migraine and practically, stayed in bed the entire day heavily drugged, from all the medication I took to lessen the pain. I would be relieved for a few days and then the pain would just come back. Yes I was tired of dealing with pain. If it wasn’t the headache , it would be another part of the body aching.

adult-1867091_1920I just wanted to be free, so I did the best thing I could possibly think of. I took a paracetamol every day irrespective of whether I had pain or not. I didn’t know what the consequences were at that time. After a few years I went for my annual check up and realized that I had type 2 diabetes. On further investigation what came to light was that, the excessive medication had destroyed the beta cells in my liver resulting in diabetes.

Now I had to live with pain and diabetes.

This was my breakthrough moment. I gave up all the pills and started researching about more holistic methods to get rid of the pain and get back my overall health.

What I learnt was that my body was giving me these signals all along and I just chose to ignore it, till it really affected me in a big way.

My personal research led me to find evidence that ‘stress’ was the big killer here, leading to the migraine and other aches and pains all over my body. My emotional health had been tossed out of the window and I was at an all-time low in life.

That is when I was fortunate enough to attend Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Practitioner training seminar with Dr Rangana Rupavi Choudhuri (PhD). I learnt about how EFT helped Dr Choudhuri with her migraine (Look out for Dr Choudhuri’s story).

In conclusion, physical ailment or disease may manifest as a result of underlying emotional issues. For example:

  • Headaches – Headaches are a sign that there is too much stress in one’s life.
  • Shoulder ache – Shoulder ache’s are a sign of too much responsibility or burden.
  • Hip ache – May be resulting from unresolved issues such as fears, phobias and may be also realated to financial security.
  • Leg/Knee pain – Knee or leg pain is generally related to the fear of progress, or the unknown future.

And boy did I follow that advice without any prejudice.

sand-1218068_1920Of course she forgot to add the little ‘if’s’ and ‘buts’ of eating whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted.

The result – I found myself standing in front of the mirror one day, asking myself, “Where did all these saddle bags come from?”man-869215_1920

And then my struggle against weight really started. I tried everything from fad diets to exercise and even consideration for surgery.

I didn’t really loose significant weight inspite of all these and eventually let go of them.

I wondered why didn’t all these methods work? What was I doing wrong?

office-899358_1920The answer struck me like a lightning bolt, I had indulged in my cravings.

Oh the love that the dark gooey bar of chocolate, or the tub of ice-cream gave me couldn’t be compared to any good feeling.

No matter what I tried, it was so difficult to not indulge.

praline-563381_1920It was only when I attended the 3 days EFT Training, that I realised that it was really simple to let go of my cravings.

Here are the steps that I learnt with a qualified EFT Trainer that helped me let go of my cravings and reduce weight.

  • The most important and the first step is to recognize something that  you really crave for and understanding that you can eliminate this craving only if you want to .
  • The next step is to have that substance with you. No dont eat it yet. Just hold it in your hand. Smell it if required and notice the thoughts or feelings while you do this.
  • On as scale of 1 to 10 how bad is your craving? with 1 being you don’t crave for it and 10 being you just want to put it in your mouth.
  • Once you know your level of craving start the EFT tapping sequence.

  • Continue to measure you craving levels and continue the tapping sequnce till the level is really low and you are comfortable with the feeling of craving.

With EFT it is really easy to eliminate cravings. These cravings may not necessarily be an eating disorder and may even have underlying deep emotional issues. For example – I realised that I craved a bar of chocolate only when I didn’t feel loved.

It is really important to get to the root of the issue and eliminate it from there for longer lasting results.

I am still a work in progress, however I now know how I can live a happier, healthier craving free life.

I still enjoy that occasional bar of chocolate, the guilt I had when I ate that is no longer there.

How many times have you seen, heard or even known something amazing that someone accomplished, on television, at work or even among your friends and family?

May be it was a friend who learnt to sky dive, a family member who became a movie star, an ex-colleague who is now a multi-millionaire or neighbour who left home to go traveling.

And as you learnt about their accomplishments, you said to yourself,

“Wow! I want to do that too!”

Days pass, then weeks and months and most of the times we end up just getting back to our everyday lives forgetting what we even wanted to do back then.

Sometimes you might even find yourself becoming resentful at others people’s success or even disappointed in yourself for not having taken the leap of faith and followed through on what you wanted to accomplish.

One of the reasons an achievement can seem like a distant dream, is because of a belief that is causing a limitation. These are negative thoughts, for example “It’s too hard”, known as limiting beliefs.

Limiting beliefs are not necessarily a product of our own experiences, sometimes they may just be someone else’s view point or even conditioning by our families and society in general that cause us to form these beliefs about ourselves.

While these may seem really innocent, they may have a very deep impact on the way we live our lives or even succeed, in our personal or even professional lives.

These beliefs determine the career path we may choose, the amount of money in our bank accounts, the state of our health and relationships.

They can make the difference between achieving what you want than not achieving what you want.

These beliefs determine our decisions, actions and the quality of our lives.

What I found most shocking though, how you can go through your whole life and not achieve what you want just because of the belief.

The saddest part was, I was not even aware these limiting beliefs existing in my psyche.

It was only when I attended 3 days EFT Training that I uncovered beliefs that had been limiting my finances, career ambitions, health and well-being. 

When the beliefs became unveiled through a very elegant process during the training (which was intense and liberating), it made so much sense what had been stopping me from achieving.

Some of my limiting beliefs uncovered during EFT Training were:

  • I’m not good enough
  • I don’t deserve success
  • Money does not come to me easily
  • I really have to work hard to meet my daily needs
  • I’m not qualified enough to take that position at work.
  • I’m not smart enough to get through that exam or interview.
  • Nobody loves me.
  • and one of the most harmful – I can’t …

I not only got to know where these beliefs came from, how they were affecting me and how dangerous they were to my overall life, but got to know the exact procedure on how I could eliminate them, thereby releasing myself from my stuck patterns.

Here are the steps to clear limiting beliefs and unleashing success:

  1. Uncover the limiting belief.
  2. Use EFT to get to the root cause.
  3. Eradicate the limitation from the psyche.
  4. Program a new empowered belief aligned to what you want.

While I was aware of the steps, what really made a difference was when I attended the 3 day EFT training, the certified trainer guided me as to how to release the hidden limitations and program the new belief for guaranteed success.

In closing, the limiting beliefs process helped me to uncover what was stopping me from achieving and automatically activate what I wanted to accomplish.

“You’re a very bad child” – Yes that’s all it takes to create a wound. 

If your heart and soul has been wounded, you are not alone! Many of us often go through lifetimes of wondering why our lives are the way they are.

Can there be no peace permanently? Is there always struggle? Am I the only one? These are some of the questions that you may come across when you reach a crossroad in your life.

Sometimes habits may form as a result of the ‘trying to forget’ and these habits can vary from cigarettes to alcohol, drugs, over eating and many many more.

One of the side effects are that we lose ourselves in the quest to find peace and harmony. This may manifest as failure in our lives, resulting in even more depression and wounds – And the cycle goes on.

On the flip side, these same wounds can become the road to our success and happiness, The media and internet are filled with such beautiful transformational stories where one has faced those wounds and made peace with them. The question is How can I face my wounds?

Here are 3 such ways that your wounds can transform your lives:

Acknowledge and accept that there is a wound

The very first step is to acknowledge that there is a wound. Nobody is perfect and we all come with our sets of wounds from surface level to deeply wounded. This step is very crucial to the healing that follows. Only if we acknowledge, are we able to get to the root of the issue. What I love about EFT is that it helps me to do this within seconds, because the first step is to accept whatever the problem is.

Dig deeper to uncover the root cause of the wound

The second step may require a little work after you have identified that you have a wound. Although this maybe the part where there is pain involved, remember that this pain is good – It’s going to set you free. There may be times where you may have to remember incidents and it may be a good idea to have a pen and paper ready to pen down all of the incidents and thoughts that come to your mind. There may be a little digging required so be prepared for it.

Release the negative charge from the wound and let it heal

The last and final step is to set this pain free. I cannot even begin to explain the joy and lightness at this stage, to be set free, to breathe again freely, to live again, to be able to fly free like a bird in the sky. There are many methods that can be used for this step. The one that I can identify with is EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques. The word says it all. I helped my son overcome his learning difficulties using EFT

How do you get complaints from your children’s teachers regarding their behaviour and studies? Our usual reaction to such a scenario is yelling at them and asking them to correct themselves. Little do we know, there is always a reason for every person’s behaviour, be it a kid or an adult. The kid might have experienced some incident that left a negative impact on their minds, making them behave in a certain way. Sometimes the impact is just momentary and sometimes it can last a lifetime, ruining the kid’s life. We need to understand the reason and help our kids get over that situation.

One day, working mom Daisy Anand noticed that her son’s grades had dropped. Even the teacher had called her in to explain that her son’s behaviour had become aggressive and was experiencing learning difficulties. She had learnt EFT to become professionally qualified, so she decided to use the technique on her son. Instead of simply forcing EFT onto her son, she started practising it on herself and touching his mom explained the process to her son. Watching his mom feel calm and relaxed got him curious and he allowed his mom to practise EFT on him as well. Through EFT they uncovered an incident where the teacher had inappropriately insulted her son and they used EFT to vent out all the pent up anger and frustration. Daisy shares, “After EFT my son was able to concentrate more on his studies and we no longer remember that teacher who insulted him. I even saw him use EFT on his own before a cricket match. Using EFT has made us be ourselves with each other and has brought us closer, strengthening our bond four folds.”

I was surprised to heal myself of Edema at EFT!

Our body has natural self-repair mechanisms that can be flipped on or off based on thoughts, beliefs, and feelings that originate in the mind. Now you must be wondering why anybody would ever want to switch such a blessing off. All this happens because of the stress that our body undergoes. Subsequently, our brain releases stress hormones which hinders the healing process only to make our illness even worse. What we actually need for our body are the healing hormones which come only with positive thoughts.

Professor in Pharmacy, Dr Purnima D Amin from NDCT (Institute of Chemical Technology) learnt how to activate her healing hormones through EFT. She was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome, a disease that affects one in a million and retorting to surgery and radiation therapy. She sought refuge in the EFT course and immediately within 3-4 days, she found that her Edema had totally disappeared. She surprisingly remarks, “Disinterested, I was forced by my husband to attend an EFT seminar conducted by Dr. Rangana. Although half-hearted, I learnt a bit of Tapping which I practiced back home on the same night as well as the next day. On the third day, I was surprised to see my Edema pain had totally disappeared.”

Healing ourselves is a work in progress. Often, we ask ourselves the question, “Why am I still angry with/upset by that?” where that is our own personal demon, which never seems to be defeated. The truth is that we are complex beings, with rich, complex lives, and rich, complex thoughts and emotions. Really freeing ourselves from our issues might involve just one session that gives us new insights, but it can also involve re-visiting the issue several times, even once we think it has been dealt with, each time learning something new.

In the words of EFT Practitioner, Isobel Gordon here’s Her client Tracey’s story,“Tracey was suffering from depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. When she first started therapy with EFT and Matrix Re imprinting, she was on sick leave because she couldn’t cope with life.
